Bodies in Balance PT is pleased to offer pediatric physical therapy services. We treat children (birth through their teen years) for a wide variety of orthopedic injuries, neurological, and congenital disorders. Physical therapists help kids improve their range of motion, strength, flexibility, and movement patterns. These changes will translate to help children independently navigate their home, school, or community environments in the best way.
Physical therapy can address:
- Recovery from sports- and non-sports-related injuries
- Developmental delays (children walking or sitting late)
- Genetic disorders (Down syndrome, Angelman's syndrome)
- Muscle weaknesses or imbalances
- Neurological disorders (cerebral palsy)
- Poor coordination
- Torticollis/Flat head syndrome
Diagnosis treated for Infant/ toddler include:
- Down Syndrome
- Toe Walking
- Flat Head Syndrome
- Low Tone/Muscle Weakness
- Cerebral Palsy
- Developmental delays
Manual therapy and Exercise Intervention for: facilitating muscle contraction, inhibiting tone, and postural correction exercise.
During your child's first visit, the physical therapist will check his or her strength, development, and see how they can sit/walk/stand/and do age-appropriate gross motor skills. If the therapist finds that there is a delay or pain/difficulty with an activity, then your child may qualify for further physical therapy treatments.
Pediatric physical therapists make the treatment sessions as fun as they can be. They will incorporate games and activities to work the correct muscles and movement patterns. In a treatment, your child may reach for toys, go on an obstacle course, build muscle by rolling on a ball, balance on a balance beam, play hopscotch, run, or perform sport-specific drills.
